Prior to the program's debut, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This marks the start of a sort of revolution," remarked John Solomon. The right-leaning Just the News will carry the former prime minister's new audio shows.

Building Connections in the Maga-Verse

UK-based allies, such as a counselor supportive of Reform, played a role in her set up the her new show. The setup is professional, if basic. Truss has amassed a subscriber base of 10k in her initial seven days and her first episode had tens of thousands of views in that timeframe.

It is a modest start, but in making common cause with John Solomon, she is being pushed into a established right-wing media network creating and spreading Maga talking points. Its obsessions include alleged censorship by the established press and a goal to eradicate a conspiratorial 'deep state' – a force that she attributes her downfall to for the swift end of her disastrous time in office.

"Solomon's outlet is not well-known outside of the Maga world, but it does have credibility there, primarily thanks to its founder, who gives commentary on Maga platforms like the program hosted by Steve Bannon and has even spoken with Trump," noted an anthropology expert, who has analyzed the Maga movement.

A Contentious Ally

Her effort to transplant Maga media to the United Kingdom has drawn her nearer to divisive personalities such as John Solomon.

He established the platform in the wake of criticism following accusations of pushing misleading narratives about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in the Eastern European nation, as well as contentious articles about ex-ambassador to Ukraine.

These allegations were amplified throughout the pro-Trump outlets, with Solomon featuring as a common interviewee on the prominent cable news broadcast. Donald Trump boosted the journalist's work.

Solomon made the Ukraine claims in a series of columns for the publication The Hill, after having been moved to a columnist role following internal criticism regarding his reporting. His claims were pivotal in the then-president's request for the officials in Kyiv to look into the Biden family in 2019. This pressure resulted in articles of impeachment against Trump. The Senate later voted to acquit the commander-in-chief.

Shortly after the journalist departed the newspaper in late 2019, the outlet stated it was carrying out a review of his work concerning Ukraine. It found he had cited untrustworthy contacts and noted he "failed to identify key facts about key Ukrainian sources, specifically the fact that they had been charged or were under investigation."

Joining the Network

Solomon's own media appearances are a example of the political media environment Truss is becoming part of. Solomon mentioned his endorsement of her new show on a broadcast he helps run on the conservative cable network, a rightwing cable channel that is the base for the conservative firebrand ex-Trump strategist Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also appears. The ex-PM has already spoken with Bannon on an early episode.

In linking up with Solomon and Just the News, she has become a niche participant in a much wider network of right-wing publications that frequently share and promote one another's material.

His personal broadcasts have repeatedly hosted personalities such as influencer Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose arguments against the US Agency for International Development was cited by the tech billionaire as reasoning behind dismantling the foreign aid agency.

A Global Media Play

Even though Truss's stilted style and political travails have been mocked at home, some US observers are taking seriously her bid to rebrand as a local version of the Maga media.

"It is necessary to treat folks like that with seriousness, although you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," stated Rob Flaherty, who served in the Biden administration.

"It was evident how in the last election cycle President Trump used that ecosystem to disseminate his views. Undoubtedly that ecosystem transmits and affects debate abroad. It looks quite apparent to me that the environment in the Britain are comparable to what allowed this non-mainstream media network to prosper in the US."

"Online platforms knows no borders," he stated. "There is a certain atmosphere within which content circulates – at times appearing in harsh versions and sometimes less so – but which is networked."

Hinton said the rise of the digital conservative movement in the UK lately meant the "chance to have a larger effect is considerable."
