Tehran Says It May Rejoin US Nuclear Talks if Handled with 'Respect' and 'Honor'
Tehran is ready to restart atomic negotiations with the United States provided that it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.
The Iranian diplomat declared solely negotiations produced results, and disclosed fresh requests had come from mediators to resume talks with the US government. He claimed Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran could not yet allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to access attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.
Navigating a Complex Path
Araghchi is walking a challenging course since Iran wishes not to be seen to be acting from a position of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out more resilient militarily and psychologically from the joint assault on its nuclear sites in June.
He was addressing at a defense forum in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to refine atomic fuel within its borders that it will perpetually retain" – the primary cause of the deadlock in the earlier negotiations.
Prior Discussions Suddenly Terminated
The previous five rounds of talks between the US and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, struck Iranian nuclear sites in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with the US president claiming the sites had been eliminated. Afterward, EU nations used their privilege to reimpose UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.
Ideal Resolution Proposed
Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an local partnership with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. The two nations would have been able to claim victory since home-based processing would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was entirely non-military.
It had not been settled in the discussions that US nuclear scientists could function inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the cooperative offer. Diplomats claimed repeatedly they had reached agreement with the US representative Steve Witkoff only for the deal to disintegrate due to "opponents in the US".
Present Status
Iran's diplomats stated the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems quite possible the proposal could be revived in various formats if talks reopen.
Trump recently claimed he had been receiving messages that Iran desired to restart talks, but in private Iran's diplomats claim they are not yet receiving clear proposals from the United States either explicitly or from significant local go-betweens, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, Oman and the Saudi kingdom. The Iranian foreign ministry has been accused of inactivity in the face of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Iran asserts diplomacy is not part of a performance.
Political Standpoint
In his address to the gathering, aimed to depict the US as a controlling nation that abuses the notion of worldwide standards, Araghchi said the 12-day war revealed the conflict could not be ended by armed force. He asserted the assaults began with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and concluded with an unconditional call for a truce.
Iran is assured the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were carried out with total Washington understanding and cooperation, making faith challenging to reestablish.
Dialogue Continues the Ultimate Resolution
The foreign minister said: "It was not Iran that had fled dialogue; it was the United States and the European states that had always tried to impose their demands during the talks. Negotiations can still be alive and remains the primary answer to settle conflicts, but its requirements, regulations and tenets must be respected."
"Provided that they address to the Iranian people with the approach of respect and honor, they will obtain a reply in the identical tone."
Repair and Reconstruction
In what is characterized by Iran's diplomats as the battle of recovery and reconstruction, Araghchi claimed he was certain Iran's military capacities "are considerably enhanced than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been restored. We acquired numerous insights from this conflict; we have come to know our internal vulnerabilities and the shortcomings of the opponent."
He stated: "We successfully passed this conflict. Our enrichment knowledge, which they planned to eliminate, continues to exist. The installations and equipment, if destroyed, will be reconstructed; what is essential is the determination of the nation of Iran and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but were unable to shatter. The nation of Iran have become more resilient, more cohesive, and more backing of the administration and the nation in the face of this invasion."
